At first glance, Circle Time for your child may just seem like singing songs and playing games. Although it’s usually not as structured as other subjects (math, reading, science, etc.), children can glean so much from this fun, interactive time spent with their peers!
Obviously, this isn’t currently something that your child can participate in in a conventional classroom setting, however, we offer five Live, Online themed circle times that are a great replacement! 1. Reinforcing Healthy Moral Values
Children are extremely perceptive and are constantly picking up on the beliefs and values of those around them. Through reading important stories and having various conversations, children will be introduced to new thoughts and beliefs. Additionally, children will get to see how their actions impact their classmates in this setting. It’s never too early to expose your child to the morals that you hope to instill in them.
2. Establishing Connections and Friendships
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of Circle Time is the bonding and connections that take place when children are closely engaging with each other. Instead of sitting at desks and focusing on individual tasks, children can really work and play alongside each other during Circle Time. While Circle Time isn’t always as structured as other time spent in a classroom, it provides an opportunity for children to improve their listening skills. It also enables them to work on being autonomous and responsible; skills that will greatly benefit them as they grow.
3. Embracing Creativity
Because Circle Time is usually centered around fun songs and interesting, educational stories, it can really encourage children’s creativity. As their young minds continue to grow, being allowed to explore new ideas helps foster innovative thinking and ingenuity. Not being confined to rigid subject matter is the best way for their creativity to flourish.
4. Having Fun
Being able to have fun while learning is integral to a child’s development and directly impacts their academic growth. Some parents may worry that having too much unstructured fun would be a detriment to their child’s learning journey, however, quite the opposite is true. Children learn at a far greater rate and are able to retain more information when some form of play is integrated into their education. Obviously, there still needs to be a structure to Circle Time, but the process of learning is just as important as the educational material itself.
5. Learning Essential, Basic Concepts
Our Circle Time classes help to educate your little one about important foundational concepts such as days of the week, months of the year, and social skills through interactions with our BümoTeachers and their peers. It’s never too early to introduce your child to these topics and by learning about them in an inclusive, welcoming environment among their classmates, they will likely seem less intimidating. It’s essential that your child becomes familiar with these basic concepts as they progress through their learning journey.
