How to Get a 5 on Your AP Exams

YOU, yes YOU, can get a 5 on ALL of your AP tests, and it’s easier than you think! Let’s talk about how.

Get Additional Resources

Head to your favorite library or bookstore (online or brick-and-mortar) and you will find a treasure trove of quality resources for each of your upcoming AP tests. Companies like Barron’s, Kaplan, and Princeton Review offer complete content reviews—books that overview all of the material you could be tested on—to prepare you for your tests. Definitely pick up any one of the available content reviews.

Note: Flashcards for an AP test are another extremely helpful resource. Many AP tests require test takers to know a ton of vocabulary terms, such as AP US History. Libraries may not carry these, but they can be found easily on sites like Amazon.com.

Take Practice Tests

Especially as Test Day draws near, it is SUPER important to take as many practice tests as you can. Practice tests enable you to familiarize yourself with the test, gauge your weaker areas, and learn from your mistakes. As always, don’t forget to go over your missed answers!

Practice tests can be found online or content review books such as those mentioned above. Review your practice test with our instructors!

Book Extra 1-on-1 Sessions or AP Workshops with Bumo

Our experienced instructors know all the tips and best strategies for you to score that 5 on the AP exam. As the time gets closer to your AP exam, book extra sessions and workshops to review all the material with your instructor and go over practice test problems.

Keep and Review ALL Class Material

Students who keep and organize their material from class do WAY better on AP Exams. Don’t believe us? Put our advice to the test and try it for yourself! Get a binder or separate folder with labeled tabs and keep everything from the class, including notes, tests, study guides, and assignments organized. You’ll thank us when you get your AP scores in the mail.

Take Notes on Textbook Reading

If you haven’t been doing this already, you’re behind! Taking notes on your AP class textbook readings is the easiest and most effective way to help you learn the material. Additionally, it will give you more material to review later for in-class tests and, of course, the AP exam itself.

Start Now

The most important thing you can do to boost your AP scores is to start today. Like, right now. Don’t wait to start going through a content review or reviewing your notes from class. Create a study plan and commit to spending just a little bit of time every day to study for Test Day. The biggest difference between a 5 and a lower score is the amount of time you are willing to put in outside of class.
